A term adapted from the parables of the Bible. Wolves are a more threatening form of the metaphorical goat, and a person characterized as a wolf is typically either engaged in activities that could negatively portray or hinder The Family, or is suspected of being willing to do so.

The even stronger pejorative "wolf in sheep's clothing" refers to "wolves" who attempt to portray themselves as sheep in order to win over the trust of a group member for the sake of gaining damaging information or other purposes that could be considered negative. The phrase is adapted from Matthew 7:15, which uses the metaphor to describe false prophets.

Fear of wolves and the persecution they might bring has historically been a strong motivator for selah practices within The Family.
