NewDayNews.com is a website for former members of The Family, its primary audience being former first generation members. The service is scheduled to shut-down on December 9th, 2008, and will continue as a read-only archive indefinately.
The website was originally started by Geraldo Lourenco (aka Barnabus or Barney) when he was a Fellow Member of The Family. The concept for the site was to allow open debate regarding The Family on the site's "General Board" (later renamed "Crossfire").
Lourenco and his home were officially excommunicated by The Family for "negative comments about the Family, its leadership doctrine and policy" on the website. Lourenco was not aware that his membership status had been revoked until reading about it in a Family publication (Grapevine 89, pg.2, "Status Change: Barney and the Laurel Home, USA").
Lourenco eventually left the website, and is no longer active online.
The site is currently privately funded and operated by a group of mostly first generation former members.
NewDayNews.com currently features several message forums, a resource section, and a large collection of photos.
