Miriam Williams Boeri (known in The Family as Jeshanah) is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Kennesaw State University in the state of Georgia. She is a former first-generation member of The Family International.
Williams Boeri left the cult in 1988, and in 1998 she published a book, Heaven's Harlots: My Fifteen Years As a Sacred Prostitute in the Children of God, about her experiences in the group. In the same year, she also established the ExCOGnet web site. She has also published research and participated in academic conferences covering topics related to new religious movements and cults (including the Family) [1].
