Dr. Rev. John Lincoln Brandt (1860 – 1946) is the grandfather of David Berg and father of Virginia Brandt Berg. He is of German Jewish origin. The Brandt family moved to America around 1750 and settled in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Brandt was a leader in the Alexander Campbell movement of the Disciples of Christ.
David Berg wrote of his grandfather:
"I admired him greatly; he was a real hero to me. He was a truly great man who really loved the Lord and survived many vicissitudes of life. He had a great history and a great record.
