Merry Berg (known to Family International members as Mene), born in June 1972, is the daughter of Paul Brant Berg (Aaron) and Judy Arlene Helmstetler (Shulamite), and granddaughter of David Berg.
Merry was invited to her grandfather's compound in December 1983, aged 11, left there in August 1987, aged 15 and left The Family International for the United States in November 1990 aged 18.
Merry underwent severe abuses while living with David Berg, Karen Zerby, Steven Kelly and others. The abuse was documented and published in the internal Family publications "The Last State" (ML 2306), "It's Up to You!--Mene's Farewell from the King's House!" (ML 2524) and "The Dangers of Demonism".
Merry served as a witness in a ground-breaking child-custody case in the UK involving The Family (see: Judgement of Lord Justice Ward).
She has been vilified by Family leadership to the point that many Family members consider her insane and possessed by demons or Satan himself.
