Seized cult children sue
The Australian/1997-11-01
Sixty-seven children seized by police and welfare officers in raids on a religious sect in 1992 are suing the NSW Government for stress and shock.
The child members of the former Children of God sect claim the raids were unlawful and their subsequent detention in juvenile centres for six days amounted to false imprisonment and a breach of their civil liberties.
The action in the NSW Supreme Court will be heard next year.
